Shenzhen missile destroyer arrives in Shekou for two-day visit
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, on October 1-2, an open day event of the Shenzhen missile destroyer will be held between Oct. 1 and 2 at the Shekou Cruise Homeport, where citizens can experience the towering steel giant ship up close.
Online reservations are needed to attend the open day event. Citizens can make reservations through WeChat accounts including “nhjdzh” (南海舰队), “lovenanshan” (创新南山), “NSWTT_” (南山文体通), “cmhk-xl” (招商蛇口邮轮母港).
The online reservation adopts real name registration, with ID information needed. Each person is limited to one visit per ID card. On the day of the visit, visitors are required to bring their own ID card and go to the domestic cruise departure gate on the second floor of Shekou Cruise Homeport during the scheduled time period. The ticket will be checked and the visit will be free of charge.
Minors visiting must be accompanied by an adult. Except for designated areas at the dock where photos can be taken for memory, no other locations are allowed to take photos.
The Shenzhen missile destroyer is China’s first independently developed warship with a full-load displacement of over 6,000 tons. It was commissioned into the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy Force in 1998, and successfully completed multiple escort missions and conducted joint exercises.
It created PLA Navy history to have crossed three oceans, and visited countries such as Japan and Oman.
