The Shenzhen delegation made intended procurements totaling more than US$5 billion on the second day of the ongoing 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai on Nov. 6, setting a new record for the delegation at the expo.
During a procurement and investment promotion event organized by the Shenzhen delegation at the expo Tuesday, Shenzhen companies inked procurement and cooperation intention agreements with several exhibitors, covering sectors such as food, agricultural produce, service trade, and nutrition and health.
A significant US$50 million deal was struck between Shenzhen Higreen Agricultural Products Food Import and Export Trade Service Co. Ltd. and Marfrig Global Foods S.A., a subsidiary of the Brazilian food processor BRF.
“Last year, we initiated beef purchases from Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, and this year we aim to expand our volume significantly,” remarked Lei Yu, general manager of Higreen. He expressed a desire to identify additional high-quality suppliers at the expo to enhance product offerings for consumers in Shenzhen and across the country.
This is the seventh consecutive year that Shenzhen has dispatched a corporate delegation to the CIIE. The Shenzhen delegation is poised to procure an extensive array of products this year, including high-tech items, green energy solutions, medical health equipment, and intelligent manufacturing technologies.
Running through Sunday, the 7th CIIE has attracted 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions.
