The Pingshan Sports Settlement, a large-scale project featuring multiple sports venues in Pingshan District, received the Platinum Award in the 2024 Muse Design Awards' architectural design — sports and recreation category.
Located at the intersection of Danzi Boulevard and Pingshan Boulevard, the project covers an area of 78,000 square meters and has a total floor area of 129,700 square meters. The complex includes a stadium and several halls for various sports, including soccer, basketball, and swimming. There is also a multifunctional hall that can be used for leisure, fitness, and entertainment performances.
According to the project description, its flexible-form architectural design creates a trendy and vibrant sports atmosphere. The entire area is designed as an open space, with various venues connected by a park-style street. Additionally, the Rainbow Running Track links the sports halls, traffic facilities, and squares, creating an enjoyable activity space.
The building design embodies Pingshan District's eco-friendly, low-carbon goals by integrating energy-saving measures, natural ventilation, and natural lighting. The sponge-city project also combines architecture with landscape. Last year, the project design was honored with the 2023 Red Dot Design Award and the 2023 Muse Design Awards' Gold Award for its interior design. Each venue of the project features a minimalist design adorned with thematic colors from the Rainbow Running Track, adding vibrancy and creating a visual harmony.
The Muse Design Awards, established by the International Awards Associate (IAA) in 2015, is an international competition that recognizes outstanding and original design work from around the world, in the fields of architecture, interior design, product design, landscape architecture, lighting design, furniture design, and fashion design.
