Compiled and published by Shenzhen's culture, media, tourism, and sports bureau, the English edition of "Hiking Shenzhen — Exploring 100 Unique Trails," a guidebook for hiking in Shenzhen, was officially launched yesterday at a 10-kilometer cross-border hiking event held in Shenzhen.

The guidebook aims to encourage more Hong Kong residents and expats to explore Shenzhen's mountainous and coastal resources and develop an appreciation for the city through hiking.

Featuring 40 unique trails developed last year, the book provides detailed descriptions of each trail, including route maps, walking guides, scenic highlights, nearby attractions, and trail stories.

Yesterday also saw the launch of the traditional Chinese version of the book, while the simplified Chinese edition was released earlier this year in January.

The book can be purchased at some bookstores.

For yesterday's event, approximately 300 hiking enthusiasts from Shenzhen and Hong Kong convened at Bijia Hill Park in Futian District in the morning to explore Shenzhen's distinctive blend of mountainous and coastal scenery.

Stretching to Meilin and Yinhu mountains, the route they took is a favored hiking trail and forms an integral segment of the extensive 200-kilometer Kunpeng Trail, which starts at the top of Phoenix Mountain in Bao'an District and traverses eight major mountains before ending at the top of Qiniang Mountain in Dapeng New Area.

The hikers also crossed the Kunpeng Trail No. 1 Bridge, a landmark ecological project that has restored ecological breakpoints and provides wildlife a safe passage between Meilin Mountain Park and Yinhu Mountain Park.

Li Wei, president of the Shenzhen Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association, remarking on the city's high-quality amenities, said, "Shenzhen beautifully blends modern landscapes with natural scenery and rich cultural vibes."

When asked about the potential impact of the guidebook, Li added, "The publication of the book will help friends from home and abroad better appreciate the beauty of Shenzhen's Mountain-Sea Vistas. I envision a future where the bonds between Shenzhen and Hong Kong are further reinforced through shared hiking experiences."
