More than 20 robotics companies from Shenzhen are making their presence felt at the 2024 World Robot Conference, which is being held at the Beijing Etrong International Exhibition & Convention Center.

The five-day global industry event, which kicked off Wednesday, has attracted 169 exhibitors presenting more than 600 innovative products, including 60 brand-new products making their debut on-site.

Robots at the conference showcased a wide range of abilities, from cooking and juicing to folding clothes, handling boxes, and painting. Those developed by Shenzhen companies have stood out among their cutting-edge competitors.

Shenzhen-based UBTECH Robotics, China's largest manufacturer of educational and humanoid robots, debuted its industrial scenario solution for humanoid robots, marking the world's first such solution applied in industrial settings. This new offering integrates UBTECH's latest research and development achievements.

Based on core technologies, UBTECH's Walker S series of industrial humanoid robots can perform multiple tasks, including intelligent movement, sorting, quality testing, tightening screws, and part installation.

"Humanoid robots are rapidly moving towards real-world applications," a UBTECH staff member said on-site. The company, with over 12 years of industrial experience, is advancing the use of humanoid robots in manufacturing, commercial services, and home companionship.

Astribot (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd., a young company founded in 2022, made its debut at the conference, showcasing its next-generation AI robot assistant, the Astribot S1. Released just two days before the event, the Astribot S1 can replicate expert techniques in calligraphy and sugar painting within hours.

AI² Robotics, another young company founded in 2023, also made its first appearance at the conference. The company displayed its new Alpha Bot 1S, demonstrating its capabilities in both industrial and everyday scenarios. Guo Yandong, founder and CEO of AI² Robotics, stated that the company aims to collaborate with others to create a universal embodied intelligent system and diverse terminal products.

Shenzhen-based Elephant Robotics also captured attention with its bionic robotic animals, a hit among both children and their parents.

"The bionic robot panda, covered in smooth leather and feathers, interacts with humans through tactile and voice recognition technologies," a booth staff member explained, adding that it is not only a technological product but also offers emotional support to its owners. Currently, the robots are being used in nursing homes for seniors and for autistic children in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and overseas.
