The Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport had handled a total of 32.26 million passenger trips by July 17 this year, with the number of passengers taking international and regional flights growing 180% year on year, according to data from the airport.

With the opening of the Shenzhong Link and the start of the summer travel season, both flight and passenger volumes have been high, averaging 1,200 flights per day and reaching up to 170,000 passengers on multiple days.

The passenger volume represents a 20% increase compared with 2023.

The airport has been actively expanding its international routes, and it now offers flights to more than 40 international destinations. During the first half of this year, the airport resumed or extended eight international passenger routes to cities like Mexico City, Cairo, and Sapporo and introduced additional flights to Barcelona, Tel Aviv, and Kuala Lumpur.

In January, the airport received approval to implement a 24-hour visa-free transit policy and resume international transit flights. In the first half of the year, the number of entry-exit passenger trips through the airport reached 2.51 million, an increase of 177% when compared to the same period last year.

The airport now offers domestic passenger services to 130 cities and has established waiting halls in seven cities, including Hong Kong, Dongguan, Huizhou, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, and Zhuhai. Additionally, there are approximately 120 cross-border buses between Shenzhen and Hong Kong daily, further solidifying the airport's role as a key transportation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
