Known as Lianhua Hill Park due to its seven hills that embrace each other like a lotus flower in bloom, Lianhua Hill Park spans 181 hectares and is situated at the northern edge of the city center. The park was formally opened to the public in June 1997, and has a distinctive geographic setting and a humanistic landscape. Lianhua Hill Park is an ecological municipal park that serves as a window showcasing Shenzhen's beauty. With an annual attendance of roughly 10 million visitors, it has been dubbed a "National Key Park" and "National Red Tourism Demonstration Base."
In the eastern part of the park, there are two scenic spots, "Breeze Blowing Across Yangri Lake" and "Rainforest and Stream Valley." On the west side of the scenic area is the "Memorial Park of the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone" which was built in 2010. Kite Square, with a lawn area spanning 20,000 square meters, lies in the southeastern area. A lawn, palm plants, a coconut grove scenic area with subtropical style, featured bougainvillea landscape are built in the south while a 50,000-square-meter Lotus Lake constructed in the north offers visitors chances to enjoy their visit.
The main peak is above 100 meters and has a 4,000-square-meter plaza containing a bronze statue of Deng Xiaoping, which is the best place for tourists to commemorate the great man of the generation and see the city's beautiful scenery as well. Leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State including Xi Jinping, Hu Jintao, Jiang Zemin, and Wen Jiabao have visited the park. The scenic spot is named the "Spring Morning of Lianhua Hill," known as one of the eight scenic spots in Shenzhen. Additionally, the bronze statue of Deng Xiaoping is selected as Shenzhen's top 10 historical buildings.
