Shenzhen Domestic Waste Classification Science Education Museum, located next to Huami Lake in Xiangmi Park, Futian District, was officially inaugurated Thursday to further promote public awareness on waste management.
The city thus far has built a total of 22 different waste-sorting education institutes across the city, according to the city’s urban management authority.
The museum in Xiangmi Lake, jointly developed by the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau and Futian District Government, covers a floor area of nearly 1,000 square meters.
It has been divided into three themed areas to present visitors with waste-sorting knowledge from different aspects such as garbage classification concepts, experience and waste disposal technologies at home and abroad.
It is said that the museum area was originally occupied by a resource recycling and disposal facility.
The museum is now in its trial operation and will be open to the public after the National Day holiday. Citizens can then make appointments via the official WeChat account “mlszgzh” (美丽深圳), the authority said.
