For biodiversity, 41 orders, 142 families and 585 species of native terrestrial vertebrates and 1,916 species, 858 genera and 199 families of native vascular plants including Cycas fairylakea, Alsophila spinulosa and Paphiopedilum purpuratum are documented in Shenzhen. Shenzhen had set up 25 nature protected areas to cover 24.75 percent of the terrestrial area, providing habitat for wild creatures.
