1. Overview

Shenzhen Airport (Group) Co., Ltd. was established in April 1989 with the approval of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government. It is a wholly State-owned limited liability company operated by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and serves as the management entity of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport. 

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport is situated at the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's "Golden Inner Bay" and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Economic Belt, with its scope now incorporated into the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hongkong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone. The area is planned to feature a total of 10 rail lines and is surrounded by five high-speed roads. It boasts a national first-class passenger terminal, making it an efficient and convenient transportation hub that combines aviation, maritime transport, highways, high-speed rail, urban rail, and subways.

In 2019, the airport handled over 50 million passenger trips and served more than 60 international destinations. This created an "air corridor" connecting five continents, firmly establishing its status as one of the world’s busiest airports. From 2020 to 2022, both passenger and cargo operations ranked third in the nation for three consecutive years. In 2023, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport experienced a rapid recovery in operations, with annual passenger throughput rebounding to the level of 50 million, ultimately reaching 52.73 million. 

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport spans a total area of 28.3 square kilometers and features first-class facilities. The T3 terminal commenced operations in 2013, with a floor area of 451,000 square meters. The satellite hall, situated north of the T3 terminal, opened in December 2021 and is connected to both the T3 terminal and the planned T2 terminal through a dedicated transport system. Spanning approximately 240,000 square meters, the satellite hall offers a modern waiting experience that blends advanced technology with cultural elements.

The airport embraces a people-centered development philosophy, continuously improving service quality. The airport features over 300 brand shops within the terminal, earning widespread praise from travelers. Prioritizing care for special passenger groups, the airport offers comprehensive support services and has established a flagship mother-and-baby room. It was also among the first in the industry to introduce innovative services such as "door-to-door baggage delivery" and "one-click luggage storage." Recognized for its excellence, the airport has received  the Guangdong Provincial Government Quality Award and the Shenzhen Mayor's Quality Award, and it stands as the only airport in the country to be named a nationwide AAA-rated service demonstration unit for market quality and credit. 

In the future, the airport will prioritize high-quality development as its primary focus. It aims to accelerate the development of an innovative, world-class international aviation hub and establish itself as a leading, model airport-based national logistics hub.

2. Transport

Pickup areas (outside the GTC)

(1) Private Cars

There are three public parking lots outside the ground transportation center (GTC) of the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport. Passengers can follow the directional signs in the GTC to access these parking lots by way of the eastern, western or southern platforms on the second floor of the GTC. Parking Lot P1 can be accessed via Door 13 or Door 14 on the east side of the GTC, Parking Lot P2 can be accessed via Door 16 on the west side of the GTC, and Parking Lot P3 can be accessed via Door 15 on the south side of the GTC.

(2) Airport Express

The pickup area for Airport Express buses is located on the western platform on the second floor of the GTC. Passengers can buy tickets at the ticket counter near Door 17 and board buses at the pickup area.

(3) Taxis

Taxi stands can be found on the eastern platform on the second floor of the GTC. Passengers can access them via Door 13.

(4) Public buses and ride-hailing cars

The bus boarding stand is located on the west platform outside the second floor of the GTC. Passengers can board buses via Door 16 on the west side of the second floor of the GTC. The ride-hailing pickup points are located on the south side outside the GTC (Ride-hailing Pickup Point A) and in the reservation pickup area on the first floor of the GTC (Ride-hailing Pickup Point B). Passengers can access the ride-hailing dedicated channel via Door 15 on the south side of the second floor of the GTC, or they can take the escalator inside the GTC to reach the Ride-hailing Pickup Point B.

(5) Night-time inter-city carpools

The pickup area for inter-city carpools is located on the first floor of the GTC in the reservation pickup area (Ride-hailing Pickup Point B), and passengers can take the escalator near the information desk of the Ride-hailing Pickup Point B on the second floor of the GTC to the parking point 12 in the waiting area on the first floor.

(6) Metro

The entrance to Metro Line 11 is located in the GTC concourse and can be accessed via four elevators and two escalators.

(7) Airport ferry terminal shuttle buses

Airport ferry terminal shuttle buses operate between the airport and the airport ferry terminal and are free of charge. Passengers can access the bus stop via Door 16 of the GTC.

(8) Coaches

The pickup area for long-distance coaches is located on the second floor of the GTC, Door 17. Passengers can purchase tickets at the ticket counter near Door 17 on the second floor and board the coaches there.

(9) Buses to Hong Kong

The pickup area for buses to Hong Kong is located on the western platform on the second floor of the GTC. Passengers can buy tickets at the ticket counter on the second floor and access the pickup area via Door 16 or Door 17.

(10) Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway

Passengers can take the escalator or elevator from the terminal or GTC to the Shenzhen Airport Railway Station on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway to board the trains.

7. Special services for travel-disadvantaged passengers

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport provides special care services for passengers aged 60 and above, pregnant women, those traveling with infants, passengers with disease, and individuals with physical disabilities or mobility issues. The services include priority check-in, priority security checks, free electric cart rides, and priority boarding, ensuring a caring experience throughout the travel process.

Note: Services are available for unaccompanied children (aged 5 to under 12), unaccompanied elderly passengers (aged 60 and above), passengers requiring wheelchair assistance, and other travel-disadvantaged passengers. These services include pickup and drop-off, as well as in-flight assistance. Specific services are subject to airline standards, and passengers must apply in advance. Once the application is successful, please arrive at the Shenzhen Airport Care Counter at least two hours before the scheduled flight departure to complete the special service reception and check-in procedures. The Airport will cease processing special service reception procedures one hour before the scheduled flight departure.

Priority check-in

The T3 terminal's fourth-floor departure hall has four "Care Service" counters located at Area A A01, Area C C02, Area F F14, and Area G G13. These counters provide priority check-in and baggage check-in services for special groups with support from various airlines and ground agents.

Care Lounge

A Care Lounge is set up between Door 3 and 4 on the fourth floor of the T3 terminal and inside the satellite hall, specifically designed for elderly, infirm, sick, disabled, and pregnant passengers to rest. Passengers in need are welcome to visit this area as required.

Priority security check

Domestic flight security check channels 37 and 38, as well as international channel 9, are designated as "Care Channels" for special passengers. These channels are equipped with service facilities such as baby seats.

Electric carts for special passengers

Free electric carts are available for special passengers at the T3 terminal, with service locations on the third floor of domestic departures, the second floor of domestic arrivals, and the Ground Transportation Center. Similar services are also offered on the third floor of domestic departures and the second floor of domestic arrivals in the satellite hall. These carts can be booked in advance.

Mother-baby services

The airport has set up mother-baby rooms at key points throughout the departure and arrival processes. These rooms are equipped with nursing chairs, constant-temperature water heaters, and diaper vending machines for the convenience of traveling mothers and infants. Flagship mother-baby rooms are located beside Gate 28 on the third floor of domestic departures in the T3 terminal, and across from Gate 561 and Gate 521 respectively in the satellite hall. Each room features a nursing area, feeding area, sleeping area, reading and entertainment area, providing a comfortable waiting environment for passengers traveling with infants.

Children's playground

The satellite hall of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport features four themed children's playgrounds, located next to Gates 503, 524, 546, and 562. Each child must be accompanied by a parent.

Priority boarding

All boarding gates have designated care seats specifically for elderly, infirm, sick, disabled, and pregnant passengers to rest. Airlines and ground agents provide priority boarding services for these special passengers.

Wheelchair connection service

The airport assists airlines in transporting passengers who require wheelchairs from the airport curb (departures platform on the fourth floor of the T3 terminal) to the airline's special passenger service counter. This service is available by appointment.
