A drone delivers an order at Lianhua Hill Park. Liu Xudong
Meituan drones recently started making deliveries in Lianhua Hill Park, marking the first drone delivery service in a national key park in China.
The landing site for this new route has been established in the camping area of the park. Visitors can now receive deliveries in as little as nine minutes after placing an order.
Customers can choose from nearly 100 products, including iced drinks, fresh fruit, and camping equipment.
Previously, visitors had to pick up deliveries outside the park because delivery drivers were unable to enter due to restrictions on mopeds. Campers often found their iced lemon tea melted by the time they returned to their sites.
"We recognized the needs of our visitors. The drone delivery service is like having a grocery store right by their camps, which provides a more comfortable and convenient experience," said a staff member responsible for Meituan's drone service.
"The drone delivery service meets current demands, and in the future, park officials plan to collaborate with Meituan to explore additional locations and expand services if demands increase," stated a staff member from Lianhua Hill Park.
