Shenzhen pumped 37.48 million yuan (US$5.57 million) into 75 independent cooperation projects on international science and technology (S&T) cooperation Tuesday, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.
Geared toward production-learning-research, these independent cooperation projects have been launched by the city’s colleges and universities, and R&D institutes and enterprises. They have jointly set up laboratories and conducted R&D cooperation with overseas colleges and universities, and R&D institutes and enterprises.
The 75 projects received funds from Shenzhen International Science and Technology Cooperation Project 2022, which was initiated by the Shenzhen Science, Technology and Innovation Commission in May.
They include “Research on new infrared detector chip and system integration” by Southern University of Science and Technology, and “R&D and application of biomarker for precise diagnosis and treatment of depression” by Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, among others.
The fund aims to support technical cooperation projects that reach international-leading status and make up for the city’s missing links in its industrial chain.
Besides independent cooperation projects, financial support will also be given to inter-government cooperation projects, event exchange projects and personnel exchange projects in several key fields, such as new-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, and green and low-carbon.
Funds for inter-governmental cooperation projects cannot exceed 50% of Chinese investment in R&D, with a cap of 3 million yuan. For the independent cooperation projects, the funding ratio must not exceed 50% of the Chinese investment in R&D, and the maximum funding is 1 million yuan.
The event exchange project and personnel exchange project both adopt a post-subsidy method.
