Shenzhen kickstarted the construction of a total of 109 projects worth 101.3 billion yuan (US$15.19 billion) for the third quarter (Q3) at a ceremony at the construction site for the Mindray Medical Equipment Manufacturing Base project in Longhua District yesterday.
The Mindray Medical Equipment Manufacturing Base project, with a total investment of 2.2 billion yuan, is one of the core projects.
Covering 128,000 square meters, the project in Guanlan Subdistrict will be a production base for Mindray medical equipment and In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) reagents.
Out of 109 projects, 62 are government-funded, with a total investment of 16.74 billion yuan, including 2.4 billion yuan for 2022. The other 47 projects are privately funded, with a total investment of 84.51 billion yuan, including 17.98 billion yuan for 2022, according to a release from the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission.
The projects mainly involve industrial parks, urban rejuvenation, tourism projects, medical centers, government-subsidized housing, and transportation infrastructure projects.
In terms of investments among districts, Longhua ranks first with a total of 23.93 billion yuan for 18 projects.
Nanshan ranks first in the number of projects, which reaches 20. Key projects in Nanshan include a rehabilitation center project in Zhaoshang Subdistrict that will cost 1.24 billion yuan.
