Two pilot programs in Shenzhen were recently selected by the State Council into a list on innovative development of trade in services, according to the city’s commercial bureau.
The programs, namely the expansion of mutual recognition of professional qualifications among the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao in the services sector, as well as building a cross-boundary medical health services pinnacle, entered the list and could be promoted in other parts of the country.
Under the qualification recognition program, eligible professional firms and qualified practitioners from Hong Kong and Macao in construction and engineering, taxation and so on, can provide services to market entities on the mainland.
Under the pilot program, as of the end of last year, 53 professional institutions and 241 qualified professionals in construction and engineering sectors in Hong Kong had been recognized on the mainland. A total of 64 tax-related professionals from Hong Kong and Macao had completed registration for cross-border employment and five joint-ventured tax accounting firms had completed administrative registration.
In another project, Shenzhen is endeavoring to build itself into a cross-boundary medical health services pinnacle. It aims to relax licensing for overseas new drugs in an orderly manner, encourage overseas medical practitioners to carry out services on the mainland, facilitate the circulation of medicines and medical devices in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and deepen the cooperation in the GBA’s medical services.
By the end of last year, Shenzhen had introduced a total of 251 high-end medical teams, built 14 national key clinical specialties and recognized over 1,100 high-level talents. A total of 118 physicians from Hong Kong and Macao had practiced in the city.
