The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shenzhen Municipal Committee (CCPIT Shenzhen) issued the first batch of 28 certificates of origin under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement to 10 local export enterprises Saturday when the foreign trade deal took effect, helping these companies receive about US$43,000 in tariff reductions from the importing country.

The certificate of origin provided by CCPIT Shenzhen is a required document for import and export enterprises to enjoy preferential tariff rates under the RCEP. These certificates will provide the 10 companies including Shenzhen Gore Co. Ltd., Shenzhen New Origin Steel Co. Ltd. and Shenzhen New Jin Lian Trade Development Co. Ltd. tariff exemptions or reductions, with approximately US$3 million in exports involved.

CCPIT Shenzhen has actively rolled out a series of measures to implement the RCEP deal in the city by setting up contact points, forming expert service teams, opening a service hotline, briefing on policies, offering consultations and training according to companies’ needs, and providing convenient services for companies’ certificate application.

“The certificate application is convenient, and the tax reduction policy will bring the company real benefits,” said Jiang Yan, a manager from Shenzhen Gore Co. Ltd.

In 2021, CCPIT issued more than 790,000 certificates of origin of various types, up by 26.14 percent year on year. The certificates involved exports worth US$30.42 billion and helped reduce about US$145 million in tariffs.
