Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport’s international cargo turnover reached 65,000 metric tons in August, up by 24.9% year on year and 8.3% over the previous month.
Imports stood at 18,000 metric tons and exports reached 47,000 metric tons, up 29.8% and 23.1% year on year, respectively, data from Shenzhen Customs showed.
In August, the Shenzhen airport opened five new cargo routes to improve its capacity as an air logistics hub, bringing the total international cargo destinations to 34 cities in regions including North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
It also intensified flights to nine cities including Los Angeles, Ho Chi Minh City, Osaka, Seoul and Istanbul.
The added international cargo routes have enabled specialized transport services such as flights for fruits from tropical regions, imports of live and fresh aquatic products, and special transport of electronic products.
