Ping An International Finance Center (PAFC), Shenzhen’s highest skyscraper, will hold a tower running event May 26.
Sports enthusiasts born between May 26, 1969 and May 26, 2001 are welcome to apply for climbing the 541-meter high mega-tall skyscraper in the whole route (116 floors). The whole route has 3,201 steps. Drinking water and first aid will be provided on certain floors.
The organizers will only accept 300 entries for amateur runners through a lottery selection. The champion will be awarded 1,000 euros in cash, runner-up 800 euros and second runner-up 500 euros, before tax. Male and female runners will be awarded respectively.
The event also has a professional category for the top 100 runners of the Asia-Pacific Vertical Marathon Association (AVA) in 2018. The runners are not allowed to apply for the amateur category. The champion will be awarded 2,400 euros in cash, runner-up 1,600 euros, second runner-up 1,200 euros and third runner-up 800 euros, before tax. Male and female runners will be awarded respectively.
The event is authorized by the AVA and the Towerrunning World Association (TWA). The AVA is a joint organization between organizers of the vertical racing event of China, Singapore, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. The TWA is the only worldwide governing body for this kind of running discipline and is responsible for regulating and promoting stair races on a worldwide basis.
