Flute and piano duo 漫步古典夜 在那遥远的地方 木笛、钢琴二重奏音乐会

Chamber music fans will love an Israeli flute and piano duo Saturday evening at the chamber hall on the fifth floor of Shenzhen Concert Hall. Flute performer Tali Rubinstein and pianist Tal Zilber, both doubling as composers, perform a diverse variety of styles and combine classical music with jazz, pop and R&B. Rubinstein won Grammy’s best album in 2015 and was featured on former U.S. president Barack Obama’s playlist. She holds degrees in music from Tel Aviv University and Berklee College of Music in Boston. Zilber, in a doctorate program at the New England Conservatory, is known for his arrangements of popular pieces.
The duo will perform works by Schumann and Vivaldi as well as Chinese songs like Teresa Teng’s “Very Sweet” and Jay Chou’s “Blue and White Porcelain.” The program also includes Gershwin’s “I Got Rhythm” and theme of Chinese animation film “Big Fish & Begonia.”

Free ukulele concert “音乐下午茶”：尤克里里跨界音乐会
Ukulele players from Shenzhen, Macao and Hong Kong will perform pieces adapted from beloved songs like “You Raise Me Up” and “In Another Life.” The show is arranged by Shenzhen and Hong Kong ukulele societies. Entry is free and no sign-up is necessary.

‘Your Lie in April’ 《四月是你的谎言》 “公生”与“薰”的钢琴小提琴唯美经典音乐集
“Your Lie in April,” a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoshi Arakawa, tells the story of piano prodigy Kosei Arima who suffers a mental breakdown after the death of his mother but manages to continue his career with the help of 14-year-old violinist Kaori Miyazono. The sad, romantic and inspiring story was adapted into a live-action film in 2016.
Accompanied by clips from the movie, Sunday’s concert will feature Debussy’s “Clair de Lune,” Fritz Kreisler’s “Love’s Sorrow,” as well as many beloved pieces from Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart and Saint-Seans.
The concert will be performed by pianist Tong Xin and violinist Tan Yabing. A doctorate student of Midori Goto at USC Thornton School of Music, Tan won a special prize for the Best Interpretation of Paganini Caprices at the 54th Premio Paganini International Violin Competition in Italy.
