Descendents

Descendents is a punk rock band formed in 1977 in Manhattan Beach, California by guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo and drummer Bill Stevenson. In 1979, they enlisted Stevenson’s school friend Milo Aukerman as a singer, and reappeared as a punk rock band, becoming a major player in the hardcore punk scene developing in Los Angeles at the time. They have released seven studio albums, three live albums, three compilation albums, and three EPs. Since 1986, the band’s lineup has consisted of singer Aukerman, guitarist Stephen Egerton, bassist Karl Alvarez and drummer Stevenson. Over the years, Descendents’ style of music has changed from short hardcore songs to long punk rock songs. The lyrical content of Descendents led it to be cited at the time as one of the most significant punk bands of the 1980s hardcore punk movement. Critics have cited that its earlier music style which reflected hardcore punk being influential to modern day skated punk and pop punk.

Carl Barat

Carl Barat is a British musician, best known for being the co-frontman with Pete Doherty of the garage rock band The Libertines. He was the frontman and lead guitarist of Dirty Pretty Things, and in 2010 debuted a solo album. In 2014 he announced the creation of his new band, The Jackals. He released his self-titled, first solo album in 2010. In an interview with C.B. Liddell of Metropolis magazine, he described the album as “the first album I’ve done that is kind of introspective rather than escapist.” In the same interview, he also talked about “stepping away from big loud guitars” as the album is stylistically more diverse and less rock-oriented than previous work.
