British VIDA Guitar Quartet will present Brahms’ “Hungarian Dances,” Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major, BWV 1048, De Falla’s “El Sombrero de Tres Picos,” Bizet’s “Carmen Suite” and English folk songs Thursday in Shenzhen.

Consisting of Christopher Stell, Mark Eden, Amanda Cook and Amrk Ashford, the VIDA Guitar Quartet brings together four guitarists of exceptional artistry and unerring musical instinct.

Classic FM commented that VIDA’s ability to conjure up an orchestral palette of color and effects combined with their exquisite tonal and dynamic control has firmly established them as a passionate and masterful ensemble who sparkle with vitality and spontaneity. VIDA’s seemingly effortless sense of ensemble and their broad range of timbres and dynamics evoke listening to an entire orchestra and not merely to four guitars. There’s only one word for it: magic, Gramophone commented.

Since forming in 2007, VIDA has performed to critical acclaim in American and European venues. They are sought-after festival artists throughout Europe and in 2011 VIDA made their U.S, debuts in Los Angeles (LMU Guitar Festival) and New York (Baruch Performing Arts Center). Following on from their acclaimed debut CD, “Love, the Magician,” VIDA released their latest CD “Rhapsody” in 2013 featuring works by George Gershwin, Malcolm Arnold and Adam Gorb.
