A nine-day cultural gala featuring traditional Chinese elements opened at Mission Hills Mall in Longhua District on Saturday. It ends Nov. 3. Entry is free.
Visitors can appreciate traditional Chinese culture like Sichuan opera featuring face changing, long-spout teapot ceremonies and other artistic performances with modern twists to traditional Sichuan characteristics.

There will also be musicians playing traditional Chinese music on instruments like the guzheng, a plucked box-zither chordophone used in ancient rituals and now a solo instrument for personal enjoyment. Cantonese opera is also being performed at the gala.

Visitors can have a taste of traditional Chinese food from all over the country, such as Beijing roast duck, Mongolian roast lamb, Korean-style niangao (or traditional steamed rice cake), and doupi, a popular breakfast dish from the city of Wuhan in Hubei Province, as well as other delicacies.
People can take part in entertaining activities like lucky turntables and picking up gadgets with long sticks.
Traditional Chinese culture products like sculptures, paintings, calligraphy and other hand-made products by artists are displayed and can be purchased there.
And how about dressing up your pets in traditional Chinese costumes? A studio specializing in pet photo-taking will provide pet costumes and record the funny moment for pet owners.
