Exhibition commemorating Marco Polo's death


This year marks the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death. The "700th Anniversary of Marco Polo's Death — Sino-Italian Illustration Joint Exhibition" is being held at Nantou Ancient Town in Nanshan District.


The exhibition features over 40 original prints from works such as "The Chinese Empire Illustrated" and "Edmund Dulac's Picture Books," conveying the Silk Road spirit of peace, cooperation, openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning, and win-win collaboration.


Additionally, the exhibition delves into the cultural core of the Maritime Silk Road, selecting over 20 pieces (sets) of works based on three major aspects: geography and customs, cultural arts, and intangible cultural heritage. This aims to showcase the rich historical legacy and diverse cultural exchanges along the Maritime Silk Road.

'To Transcend' 


The Liu Cixin sci-fi comic universe-themed exhibition features a brand new curatorial approach in terms of narrative, artwork display, and spatial experience, creating an infinite realm of imagination that drives sci-fi creativity and imagination through visual means.


The exhibition invited 31 outstanding comic artists from 13 countries, each with diverse cultural backgrounds and life experiences. They have reinterpreted and meticulously illustrated 15 works by Liu, with over 300 precious manuscripts collected for the first time, presenting the wonders and impacts of science fiction through a comic perspective.

'To the Lighthouse: Through Words and Waves'


The exhibition promotes dialogue and exchanges with local sustainable cultural institutions, creators, and social organizations through thematic research on ocean protection practices and the circular rejuvenation of materials and interactive installations. 


Divided into three chapters, the exhibition includes exhibits related to marine sustainability, bringing the audience into a world of ocean through their senses, providing various forms of reading experiences to gain a profound understanding of ocean culture, marine civilization, and oceanic materials.

Performance

'Man of La Mancha'


In 1965, "Man of La Mancha", which is based on the classic novel "Don Quixote" by Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes, premiered on Broadway and immediately sparked a huge response, setting a record with 2,329 performances, and it still ranks high on Broadway's continuous performance charts.


In 1966, it swept the Tony Awards and won five awards including best musical. In 2012, the English version of "Man of La Mancha" premiered in China with 60 shows, which received high praises from Chinese audiences and media.
