The 19th Festival Croisements is bringing a series of engaging activities in Shenzhen to celebrate 60 years of Sino-French diplomatic ties and fruitful collaborations, according to a press conference at the Jupiter Museum of Art last week.

Art exhibitions, including "The Tide Never Recede — Alphonse Mucha and Modern World," "The Invention of Modern Landscape — From Corot to the Impressionists," "Interconnection — Exhibition of Franco-Chinese Contemporary Architecture," "MOFARTS: The Fifth Feast of Fairies," and "Urban Vision," will bring a fantastic visual feast for viewers.

Among them, the "Urban Vision" exhibition featuring the works of over 50 renowned artists stands out as a highlight of the festival. Exploring the evolution of street art, the exhibition also addresses issues such as urban space. Notably, it has invited 11 artists from around the world to gather at the museum and create their paintings onsite.

The festival will also present a variety of performances, with many of them to be staged in Shenzhen. Upcoming performances will include famed French musical "Don Juan," ballet performances by La Ballet de L'Opera National de Bordeaux, and a Chinese version of the stage play, "Les Misérables." Additionally, "Dans Ma Forêt," a creative concert accompanied with painting onsite, will take place at the Huaxia Arts Center.

In addition to art exhibitions and theater performances, Shenzhen will also host a series of music feasts, including violin recitals, a jazz piano concert and a string quartet, during the festival.

The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House of Versailles performed a concert of Baroque classics April 5. The famed Quatuor Van Kuijk, one of the world's fastest-rising string quartets, will grace the Bay Opera of Shenzhen with a night of pieces by Debussy, Faure, Ravel, Satie and Poulenc.

A French literature symposium will be held at the Shenzhen Book City CBD Store on May 25. Three scholars from China and France have been invited by the Shenzhen Publishing House to share their insights on literature, travel and art. François Boucher will recount his experiences in Guangdong, Du Qinggang will discuss creativity in both French and Chinese contexts, while Cheng Jing, the translator of "Mona's Eye," will share her journey through French literature and art.
